This project is still in the preparation phase. Existing source code will be imported into CVS but remains provisional until it is decided whether there will be a SVN repository.
WrapSVN is a wrapper around the subversion executable, usable as an eclipse
team provider plugin. Its intention is to allow a user without previous
knowledge of version control systems to use version control with subversion.
It is a pure java program that does not use any native code; for easy
cross-platform portability as well as smooth adaption to new subversion releases.
This project was sparked by the need for a version control integration that
does not get into user's way. It had to be able to survive users that
developed a downright aversion to scm tools. Therefore it became necessary to
start with a new approach.
The plugin does not inherit previous team provider code other than the general
team API of eclipse and its underlying concepts.
When the user-interface concept proves effective, it is planned to use the
eclipse-platform to build a stand-alone subversion browser while maintaining
identical cross-platform look and feel.
The plugin for eclipse is 3.x only, there are no plans to down-port back to
eclipse 2. You will need an installation of the command-line subversion tool-set
to use this plugin.
This software is provided under the terms of the Eclipse Public License
version 1.0, see http://www.eclipse.org/legal/epl-v10.html or
Wrapsvn is a specialized implementation, and provides a limited feature set
by design. For a more complete integration, use one of the primary tools below:
- Subclipse is the main,
developer-centric subversion integration for eclipse, with the full feature set.
- RapidSVN is a cross-platform GUI
front-end for the Subversion revision system written in C++ using the wxWidgets
- TortoiseSVN is a Subversion client,
implemented as a windows shell extension.
- The SCM category at Tigris.org contains
a large list of other SCM tools and integrations.
lists additional projects around the subversion system.
- The Eclipse Foundation provides a rich platform
for development tools and other applications.
